Message from the President:
Welcome to the Utah Symphony Guild website. I am pleased to share this wonderful organization with you. Since I will be President of the Guild for the next 2 years, I hope you will join me in our events and aspirations to support our Utah Symphony Orchestra.
Because we believe great music can elevate the human spirit, the purpose of the Guild is to foster, promote and facilitate the operation of the Utah Symphony Orchestra financially, socially and through education.
Welcome to the 2019/20 Season of the Utah Symphony Guild. Thank you for supporting our organization who in turn supports our wonderful Utah Symphony Orchestra through financial contributions and many other service projects. Utah Symphony is one of the few full-time orchestras operating year-round in the nation. The Guild operates the Boutique in the lobby of Abravanel Hall as well as at the Deer Valley Music Festival. All sales benefit the Orchestra.
Our Youth Guild organizes backstage seminars with symphony musicians and masterclasses provided by guest artists. In addition, the Youth Guild operates the coat check, schedules the young musicians (ages 8-18) who are members of the Youth Guild to play in the lobby before performances, and facilitates their participation in the Annual Youth Guild Recital which may make them eligible to play with the Orchestra. Through our Outreach Program, young children, who otherwise would not have the opportunity to get lessons, are taught to play the violin. The guild provides the teacher, the violins and all needed materials. Two years in a row, 2017 & 2018 we have won the Gold Book Award from the League of American Orchestras for this program.
The Guild also serves breakfast to attendees of Finishing Touches when patrons may attend the last rehearsal before a performance.
And there are of course our Luncheons where guild members can socialize and get better acquainted with one another as well as interact with the guest musicians who may be providing entertainment for us.
Our Annual Gala is the main Fundraiser of our organization, and this season it will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2020, in Abravanel Hall.
I encourage you to participate in any of those programs that interest you and to start serving this very worthwhile cause in order to assure the successful future of OUR Utah Symphony Orchestra. This year’s Utah Symphony Board is comprised of many talented and dedicated men and women and I am very thankful for their commitment and all the time they spend making the Guild flourish in its endeavor to enrich the cultural scene in the community and particularly to help children.
Many thanks to our Board.
We support a world-class symphony and have a lot of fun doing it! Come join us!
I am so impressed with the music outreach program. We are changing lives one by one. It's an honor to support these young people.
